Ariana Shares The Tracklist For Eternal Sunshine Deluxe Edition
Look out for track 19.
Ariana Grande is no longer playing coy about the deluxe edition of her 2024 album Eternal Sunshine. On March 10, the Wicked star posted on Instagram, confirming she’s releasing new music on March 28. “eternal sunshine deluxe ♡ 📦 3.28,” Grande captioned her post. The album is already available for pre-save and pre-order, and there’s a visual component, too — on March 11, Grande shared that Brighter Days Ahead, The Short Film will also drop on March 28.
The teasing didn’t stop there. In a March 17 Instagram post, Grande shared the tracklist for the new songs on Eternal Sunshine deluxe edition — in order: “intro (end of the world) extended,” “twilight,” “warm,” “dandelion,” “past life,” and “Hampstead.”
The last track — “Hampstead” — has already gotten a lot of attention from fans. Grande previously revealed that the song was close to her heart. “The final song on it is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written,” she said during a July 2024 episode of the Shut Up Evan podcast.
Plus, while working on Wicked, Grande lived in Hampstead Heath, an area of London. Her time spent there also coincided with the end of her marriage to Dalton Gomez and the start of her connection with Ethan Slater. As one fan noted on X, formerly called Twitter, “OMG. wasn’t hampstead where she was living #whenitallhappened.”
In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Grande seemed happy to reflect on her time in Hampstead. “I was in Hampstead when I was here, and I loved my walks on the Heath,” she said in the video, posted to TikTok on Jan. 30. “I loved meandering around and visiting different shops and places and pubs. I didn't know what a Sunday roast was, but I know that that's a thing now. I didn't know what that was and now I do and I'm changed for the better.”
Grande’s March music announcement came as a shock to fans, considering that a little over a week before confirming the deluxe edition, Grande refused to share any firm updates on the release. On March 2, the singer was asked if new music would be coming “soon” while on the Oscars red carpet.
“They did the Brighter Days Memory Erasure treatment to me so I'm having trouble remembering the details,” she joked at the time, referencing the memory-erasing clinic in her “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” music video, which was based on a similar concept in the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
“They're foggy, because at the Brighter Days Clinic, they do the Memory Erasure,” she quipped. “I'll have to go back to the clinic and see if they can restore my memory.”
When Variety reporter Marc Malkin asked Grande if the music was coming “soon,” she demurred. “So you have to learn the language of my fans because soon means 10 days or less. I’m not allowed to use that word at this moment,” she said.
“So, it’s not less than 10 days?” Malkin asked. Grande said, “I’m not going to use that word today. I’ll say that.”
"Just keep your eyes peeled... That's all I'm saying,” Grande added at the time.
Over the Wicked press tour, Grande rarely gave updates about her pop career, so much so that it wasn’t clear if she would be releasing new music anytime soon. In November 2024, she said she wanted to focus on acting for the time being. “I’m going to say something so scary — it’s going to scare the absolute sh*t out of my fans and everyone, but I love them, and they’ll deal, and we’ll be here forever,” she said on Las Culturistas podcast at the time. “I’m always going to make music, I’m always going to go on stage, I’m always going to do pop stuff, I pinky promise. But I don’t think doing it at the rate I’ve been doing it for the past 10 years is where I see the next 10 years.”
Grande reiterated that same idea when talking to Variety at the Golden Globes First-Time Nominees luncheon in December 2024. “I feel so grateful to the acting, and I think my fans know that music and being on stage will always be a part of my life, but I don’t see it coming anytime soon,” she said. “I think the next few years, hopefully we’ll be exploring different forms of art, and I think acting is feeling like home right now.”
